How did we begin?

So, how did we get World Of Wood started?

Please let me introduce Troy Wilkinson. Troy is the owner and general manager of World of Wood and is a qualified carpenter from New Zealand who has owned and run woodworking and construction businesses in New Zealand, Colorado-USA, California-USA and in Panamá-Republic of Panamá.

While growing his high-end furniture fabrication business in Panamá, Troy found the exotic, live edge wood slabs which were sourced ecologically right out of Panamá, including from within the man-made lakes used for the operation of the Panamá Canal. Once he saw the size and beauty of the slabs, he found that they were very sought after and the furniture such as Live Edge tables were very popular among his clients.

After selling his furniture fabrication business in 2019, Troy decided to use his extensive experience and contacts for sourcing live edge slabs and work solely on getting these gorgeous pieces to the rest of the world.

Also because of Troys love of Latin America especially Colombia, Troy has started sourcing huge live edge slabs out of Colombia and through his search, now has access to tropical wood slabs out of 8 Latin American countries, including Panamá, Colombia, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican republic among others.
